So he starts to tell us how he was running on the sidewalk in the direction of traffic and all of a sudden he hears a loud screeching from behind him. He looks back and there is a black Mustang, going full speed, and out of control driving on the sidewalk heading straight for him. Literally within seconds he jumped over the bumper that was falling off of the car and the car swerves and misses him by an inch (this is no exaggeration). The car then makes a sharp left across 4 lanes of traffic, over the median, and T-bones a lady in her car, who was going in the opposite direction. Jay runs over to the guy in the Mustang and he was locked in the car just shaking. The lady was ok but really shaken up as well. He said the Mustang was literally in pieces. A car no longer existed. The cops came and took care of everything but as people were crowding around, some who saw the whole thing happen, approached J. They said that they saw the car going straight for him as he was running and they thought that he had gotten hit. One man said, "God must have you here on earth for a reason, because He sure was protecting you." Crazy right?!? They were so amazed at how God protected Him because from where they were standing, it didn't look like a happy ending...
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. How do you even begin to process something like that?!? You give him a really big hug first of all!!!! That's scary stuff. Not something i want to think about honestly...The awesome thing is God's protection over his life. It makes you really think about how precious life is and how relationships are so meaningful and how I would be so lost without him. And man, what amazing confirmation that God has an incredible plan and purpose for His life and that the Lord takes care of His Children. I believe the Father was protecting His son last night for a reason. And I am so thankful for that! And man God is so good, because Jay just stopped running with headphones a little over a week ago (usually he listens to music). If he had headphones on, he wouldn't have been able to hear the screech and jump out of the way. Gives me goosebumps just to think about it. What a reality check and so many reasons to be grateful! The ironic thing is that in Sunday School last week we were taking with the youth about our biggest fears, and the one I shared was my fear of something happening to my family. Fear is not of the Lord and he calls us to TRUST him, maybe this was the Lord's way of saying, "Don't worry Jess, I am in control! You don't need to worry and you don't need to be anxious. I AM GOD!"
I read Psalm 91:1-2 today and how fitting..
"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'"
I would be so lost with out my Almighty God. What peace He brings and it is in his arms that we find security and stability! I would rather place my family in the hands of the Father than anywhere else on this earth!
