A Miami Christmas

I am really beginning to miss "Chicago-style" Christmas. I miss the snow, chilly weather, being able to see your breath outside, a fireplace, bundling up in jackets and boots, the gorgeous Christmas decorations downtown, cold toes and fingers, and desperately needing coffee or hot chocolate just to stay warm. Christmas in Miami is a little different....

This was our Christmas last year:

And this is our Christmas this year:

Would you agree that it's a little different? :)

It feels like Christmas in July.... I'm just as tan in December as I was over the summer. Don't get me wrong...I LOVE summer and HOTT weather, but I do love a cold, snowy Christmas. I think half the fun of the Holidays is looking forward to it and experiencing the "season" that leads up to it. I'm glad that we can be in Chicago for New Years though :)

And just because it is different, doesn't mean that it isn't going to be special. I am excited to be having Christmas with my family here in Miami. It will be time to start some new traditions, experience some new things, and just be together! And I'm not going to lie, it is nice to have the warm weather still. We were out playing football yesterday in shorts and t-shirts and I was soaking up the sun in the back yard. Not too much to complain about right?!

Well, to all my Chicago friends and family- ENJOY the cold and snow for us, and we will enjoy the sun and warmth for you down here!

Oh and side note...I just had to share this too. I was feeling sick last night and was asleep on the couch by 8:00. Jaakan was in our room studying and I went in our bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. When I came out, he had left the room and had the light off and the bed all ready for me. He had the decorative pillows put away, the covers pulled back, and a note on the bed that said "Love You - hubby."  Sweet right?!? sometimes, it's nice to have someone take care of you, since the mom/wife does a lot of the "taking care of" :) I love simple thoughtful things like that.

Well, that's all for now. HAPPY SATURDAY EVERYONE!

Love, Jess
