Our Youth

God has blessed us with an awesome group of youth to work with and Jaakan has been doing an amazing job heading up the new program. I am such a proud wife! I have seen him humbled like never before, with a purely teachable attitude. He has a heart to serve and is willing to do whatever the Lord has. We are both learning a LOT as we go and are really enjoying it.

It has been a busy few months full of youth group, movie nights, Bible Study, softball games, dodgeball, popcorn, worship, and hanging out with these great kids!

We have been going through studies on fearing God, fear of rejection, vantage point (different view points of the cross),  and thankfulness.

Here is a little video clip of Jay speaking during Sunday School a few weeks ago. He is a very passionate and powerful speaker...hence the volume of his voice! :)

He went over Matthew 8:23 when Jesus calmed the storm. He talked about how...

Fear gives us
1. Amnesia- causes us to forget who we are. We forget the TRUTH that God is always with us. He will
    NEVER leave or forsake us!
2. Fear is a choice- we control our response
3. Fear reveals TRUTH- makes us vulnerable
4. Fear is a heart issue.- "you of little faith" The opposite of fear is FAITH!

More specifically- fear of rejection - which I think if we are all honest with ourselves, we all struggle with this!

Fear of rejection causes us to abandon truth. We fear being shut down and turned away. We fear rejection because we love the praises of man.We care more about what man thinks of us, than what God thinks of us.
We need to believe that JESUS IS LORD- NOT MAN!
He is our Creator, Father, and our God! He is the ONE who will always be there standing strong. He is the ONE that we can fully rely on. And our identity, security, and self-worth needs to be secure in HIM.

It has been a huge blessing being a part of Holy Cross and we know that this is exactly where the Lord has us right now. I'm so glad that we can be doing this together. It's so fun being a supportive wife!!! Keep us in your prayers. Ministry is hard and we are still trying to figure everything out, but we are enjoying the learning process. I am so thankful that God is in control and not us :)
