FEAR

Matthew 8:23-28:

“And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, "Save us, Lord; we are perishing." And he said to them, "Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?" Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And the men marveled, saying, "What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?

And when he came to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men met him, coming out of the tombs, so fierce that no one could pass that way.”

Thursday, October 21- We are not born with fear. Fear is learned. What fears are present in your life? What caused these fears?

Friday, October 22- In the passage above, Jesus’ disciples questioned Him and His ability to save them. They lacked trust. Are you ever guilty of this? If so, when?

Saturday, October 23- How do fears affect your self-esteem, insecurities, relationships, and most importantly, your relationship with God?

Sunday, October 24- God is in total control over everything and everyone. We can find our security and rest in Him. We know this, yet it is still so easy to be fearful. What is the danger of letting fear control you instead of the Lord?

Monday, October 25- At times, following God can be scary. The unknown can cause doubt, worry, and stress. Have you ever allowed fear to stop you from doing something that you know God is calling you to?

Tuesday, October 26- How do you think God feels when you choose to be fearful instead of trusting in Him?

Wednesday, October 27- Do you recognize the Lord’s presence with you, especially when you meet the storms of adversity, sorrow, or temptation? Whenever we encounter trouble, the Lord is there, we just have to choose to trust Him.
